Monday, October 5th - Salou, Spain

Wow, I lost all the notes I had written for this date.  Now I have to try and remember what I did and that was two days ago.  Oh no.  I do remember deciding not to go to Tarragona today because it was supposed to be rainy so I'm guessing it was a cloudy day with a bit of rain although I don't remember anything major.

I'm sure I likely slept in since that's my usual routine.  And since it was the start of a new week, I know I walked down to the tourist office to get the weekly list of events.  I actually remember doing that in the early afternoon and then getting there and discovering that the office was closed because it was siesta time.  Obviously I am just never going to get used to these afternoon breaks when everything shuts down.

I would say that the weekly schedule definitely makes it seem like the end of season is here.  Aside from the usual market days that are always listed for each town, and the usual exhibitions or museum hours, there was literally nothing. On Saturday, the day I thought I would likely leave, the castellers are in Cambrils.  That is the town I walked to the one day to see the fishing boats come in so it's not far away.  And I really would like to see the teams build these human pyramids sometime so I may have to consider staying at least one extra day.

Speaking of that, I also went down to the office and paid for the next booking for this place that takes me through to October 10th.  It would have been a bit cheaper ($.50 tax per day that you only pay to a max of 7 days each booking) if I had done this whole stay on one booking but I had no idea that I would be staying for so long.  I think this was my third extension.  I just make another booking online and then go downstairs and pay them some more money so they know I'm staying.  Since it's not really busy around here right now, there is obviously not a huge demand for the rooms.  This extension makes it three weeks in total.  Just think how much Spanish I could have learned by now if I'd gone to a Spanish language place instead of some place with a beach!  

Well, since I can't remember anything else, I guess we'll assume that I didn't do anything else worth reporting on - not that some of the above was worth reporting on anyway.  That's it for this day.
